Copper City Christmas Days 2024

The traditional "Kupferstädter Weihnachtstage" will soon begin - this year with a new concept. You can look forward to great new features as well as the tried and tested.

In addition to the magic of the stalls on the Alter Markt and the varied programme in the Burghaus, you can look forward to a special highlight. As a landmark of the copper town, the castle will take centre stage. The castle and its grounds will be illuminated and staged for Christmas. There is much to discover and marvel at. Immerse yourself in a magical Christmas world with impressive lighting effects and enjoy a mulled wine with a view of the whole of Stolberg.

This year, the "Kupferstädter Weihnachtstage" will be open on five weekends from 23rd November - 22nd December 2024 on Saturdays and Sundays. The popular WeihnachtsTreff on Kaiserplatz will take place from 15.11. to 30.12.2024.

Our night watchman tours are a highlight in the run-up to Christmas. The Christmassy flair of the old town with its illuminated narrow streets can be experienced in a special way when you immerse yourself in the darkness of the night together with the night watchman. On the tour through Stolberg's nocturnal past, numerous stories are told at authentic locations, which are sometimes informative, sometimes funny, sometimes scary, but always entertaining. Children are welcome to bring their own lantern or torch to help our night watchman with his work. The night watchman tours take place on 30.11., 01.12., 07.12., 15.12. and 20.12. at 6 pm. Special tours for children aged 5 and over accompanied by their parents will take place on 30 November, 7 December, 14 December and 21 December at 5 pm.

Another new feature will be the after-work market Christmas special from 12-15 December 2024, including Sunday shopping in Steinweg. The now almost traditional, but actually still new and successful after-work market format will be transformed into a Christmas special. From Thursday to Sunday, the newly renovated Steinweg will be transformed into a Christmas street with stalls, vendor carts, market stalls, musical and culinary offerings, walking acts and much more in collaboration with the local businesses.

Highlights of the Kupferstädter Christmas Days include:

• 5 weekends ‘Burg leuchtet’ and traditional Christmas market with local traders on the Alter Markt Sat: 3pm - 9pm, Sun: 12pm - 8pm -
• Live music on the Alter Markt on Saturdays and a colourful club programme in the Burghaus
• 25th anniversary of the largest Advent calendar in the Euregio with a daily stage programme to open the windows from 1 December at 5.45 pm on Kaiserplatz
• Big open-air Advent singing on Kaiserplatz on Sun 22 Dec. 2024 after the calendar window opening
• Numerous activities and attractions for children on Kaiserplatz with the Kupferstadt Christmas elves
• After Work Market Christmas Special in Steinweg from 12-15 December 2024 incl. open Sunday, Thu-Sat: 4-8 p.m., open Sunday: 1-6 p.m. During the After Work Market Christmas Special, the castle will of course also be lit up and the Christmas market on the Alter Markt will be open. )
